Milwaukee man charged after crashing into Milwaukee Water Works truck, injuring occupants

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee man is facing charges after crashing into a Milwaukee Water Works truck and injuring the two people inside.

Garett Strache, 45, of Milwaukee is facing charges of Operating While Intoxicated Causing Injury and Operating With Prohibited Alcohol Concentration Causing Injury. 

Milwaukee Police were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident back on January 10 near 80th and Hampton. 

Upon arrival, police located a Dodge Durango on its side in the street and a Milwaukee Water Works truck off the roadway on the grass. The defendant and lone occupant of the Durango, later identified as Strache, was trapped inside of his vehicle. Based on observations, he was believed to be impaired.

A passenger in the Milwaukee Water Works truck stated that they were on their way to repair a fire hydrant when a vehicle struck the side of their work truck.

The driver of the work truck was diagnosed with a bulging disk and was unable to return to work. 

The passenger was diagnosed with a concussion and whiplash. Both are still recovering from their injuries.
