Suspect arrested for 6th OWI after erratic chase from Caledonia to Oak Creek

CALEDONIA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- On Monday, December 4 around 1:20 p.m. a Racine County Sheriff's Deputy was approached by someone on 7 Mile Road in Caledonia who said they saw a car hit road signs and then continue driving even though the windshield was smashed.

Shortly after the report, the Deputy saw the car and tried to stop the car. The suspect slowed but did not stop and then sped up rapidly.

According to authorities, the suspect was driving very erratically and at times drove on the wrong side of the road.

The pursuit went north into Oak Creek and at one point reached speeds of nearly 90 mph. The suspect pulled into Colder's Furniture Store on 13th Street in Oak Creek where the chase ended.

The deputy waited for back up and then found the car in the back of the parking lot without anyone in it. Police conducted a search and an Oak Creek Police Officer found the suspect a short distance away.

After a failed sobriety test, the 36-year-old suspect was taken to the Racine County Jail for fleeing, endangering safety, driving with a revoked license and their 6th OWI.
