West Allis man arrested for 3rd OWI after fleeing from deputies, attempting to jump off overpass

MILWAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A West Allis man has been arrested for third OWI after causing a one-car crash and attempting to flee from authorities.

Deputies were called to a one-car crash on I-94 westbound near General Mitchell Blvd around 9:45 p.m. on Saturday.

The car was located off the freeway in a grassy ditch.

The driver, later identified as Edwaljer Coats, attempted to leave the scene and walk in traffic.

Coats then allegedly walked to the overpass above Mitchell Blvd and straddled the bridge wall.

Officers were able to get him to come back over but he allegedly became combative.

Coats is now facing charges of 3rd OWI and Resisting/Obstructing.
