45-year-old arrested after standoff in Cudahy

CUDAHY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- On Saturday, July 5, Cudahy Police responded to a criminal damage to property complaint that led to a hours long standoff.

Around 10:00 p.m. officers went to the area of E. Henry Ave. and S. Crosswinds. When they arrived in the area, they tried to make contact with the resident at their home.

The suspect, a 45-year-old Cudahy resident, came to the door holding a handgun. 

Officers quickly retreated and sought cover. While doing so the suspect exited the home and pointed the handgun at them. One officer shot at the suspect and the suspect retreated back into their home. 

The South Shore Joint Tactical Unit (SSJTU) was called and a shelter in place order was sent out. 

The SSJTU was able to negotiate with the suspect and eventually they surrendered to police around 1:00 a.m. on July 6 without further incident. 

No officer nor the suspect were injured in the incident. The shelter in place order was lifted around 1:45 a.m. 

The suspect was transported to the Milwaukee County Criminal Justice Facility and criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
