DELAFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Emergency responders from around the midwest had a crash course in extrication Saturday.
5 Alarm Fire & Safety hosted their annual Jaws of LIfe Extrication training over the weekend in Delafield.
The two-day certification course teaches the proper methods for auto and heavy rescue.
Students tackle real-life scenarios and handle the newest equipment like the battery-powered jaws of life.
"In the past, the tool was big, heavy, connected to a hydraulic pump and a hose line. Now, it's battery operated. They're lighter, faster, and it gives the firefighter a better opportunity to do their job," said Gerry Fleisher, President and owner of 5 Alarm Fire & Safety.
5 Alarm Fire has put on the training for the past 21 years, the last ten in Delafield. Responders come from major Midwestern cities like Milwaukee and Chicago.
