MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It was a "Party In The USA" outside of the Summerfest gates Friday morning, Sept. 17. Miley Cyrus fans lined up before dawn to get inside. Gates opened at 12 p.m., and they ran to the American Family Amphitheater like a "Wrecking Ball" to get a good spot.
"The wait is half of the battle, because once you get in there the goal is to be as close to her as possible," said Alexa Innarella.
There were about 50 people lined up. They started arriving at 4 a.m.
Innarella came from New Jersey, and this isn't the first time she's waited outside in the early morning hours.
"It started back in 2006, Hannah Montana days," she said. "I've met all of these people over the course of the last six years at Miley shows."
They call themselves "Smilers". These Smilers came from all over the country to see Miley perform at Summerfest.
"I drove 12 hours here all by myself to see Miley perform at Summerfest," said Zach Williams who came from Washington DC.
For the last couple of years Miley has only played festival shows. Although this show is at Summerfest, unlike other festivals she'll play a full set list.
"She's doing her own set, it's not like there's a bunch of people in the lineup, so all the Smilers came out to the show. This is a Miley show in addition to Summerfest," said Williams.
Wiz Khalifa will open for Miley. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.
