Former Milwaukee Election Commission official pleads not guilty to election fraud charges

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Former Milwaukee County Election Commission official Kimberly Zapata was bound over for trial Friday on misconduct and election fraud charges.

She claims she asked for absentee ballots in the names of fake military members to make a point about election security.

She was fired and charged.

Zapata appeared by video Friday, waived her preliminary hearing and entered a plea of not guilty.

Her next court date is a scheduling conference on Feb. 3.
