Kids tour Summerfest stage construction project
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A bunch of Milwaukee kids got a backstage tour of Summerfest few of us will ever get.
Members of the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee were taken through what will eventually become the newly-renovated U.S. Celluar Connections Stage at the big gig.
It's part of their "STEM" education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) brought to them by the Club's corporate partner, U.S. Cellular.
What we believe is it brings it to life for them and really ignites that fire within the kid. To understand what all this, I'm learning in books and hearing about, this is what the job actually is and it's exciting. It's part of building the future of Milwaukee," said John Heimsch with U.S. Cellular.
The kids heard from the architects who designed the new stage, got to see what the finished product will look like thanks to virtual reality, and the schedule also calls for them to see a steel beam that will be part of the new stage.
