ME's office: 3 people died from suspected hypothermia over the weekend

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office is investigating three probable hypothermia deaths, all involving people who are unhoused. 

According to the ME's office, on Friday, Jan. 12, a 64-year-old man was pronounced dead near the 500 block of South Layton after being found under a bridge. 

On Saturday, Jan. 13 a 69-year-old man was pronounced dead near 35th and Hadley, after being found in a vehicle he had been using as shelter.

On Sunday, Jan. 14, a 40-year-old man was pronounced dead near Sherman Boulevard and Mill Road, after being found on a heating mechanism near the railroad tracks. 

Unsheltered residents are encouraged to call 2-1-1 for information on the closest warming center that is open to them. 

Below are the number of hypothermia deaths the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office has investigated over the past several years: 

2020: 12 deaths
2021: 11 deaths
2022: 10 deaths
2023: 9 deaths
