MKE Black Inc. launches first Summer Marketplace Series
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Local black-owned businesses were highlighted in Milwaukee Saturday, June 26.
MKE Black Inc. launched their first summer marketplace series.
The organization has raised the bar from their previous food truck block party events by expanding beyond food to include everything from clothing to arts.
Executive Director of MKE Black, Rick Banks, says expanding the event is meant to better represent the diverse fields of black business owners in the Milwaukee area.
"People have been saying how good that is and how you know that fills the gap that people have been seeing built before because if we're going to build equity and close the wealth gap and things like that we have to be intentional about supporting black-owned businesses exclusively" said Banks.
The Summer Marketplace Series will be taking place again on July 24 and August 28th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
