The Guest House of Milwaukee receives garden renovation

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee shelter got some help to provide more fresh produce to its clients as well as the community on Thursday, Nov. 7.

The Guest House of Milwaukee, near 13th and Juneau, received one of 100 Lowe's hometown grants nationwide to renovate the kitchen and garden spaces.

Volunteers and Lowe's employees placed new garden beds, filled beds with dirt and planted seeds.

"The garden was in desperate shape of being renovated, and kind of updated, so we are expanding the number of beds to 63, and adding fruit trees to be a bigger resource to the community," said Stephen Bauer, CEO, Guest House of Milwaukee.

The Guest House of Milwaukee is always looking for more volunteers as well as donations.
