Waterford Police investigating fatal house fire

Waterford Police responded to call of a fatal house fire that happened early Thursday morning in the 400 block of Fox Isle Dr in the Village of Waterford.

Deputies arrived on scene and assisted with evacuating the residence. Due to the fire, entry to the home could not be made and the 88-year-old homeowner did not make it out. He was located on the second floor of the house by firefighters and pronounced dead at the scene. His name is not being released at this time.

Two other people who were inside the home at the time of the fire managed to make it out of the house and were transported by rescue to St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee. They were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation and minor injures.

A friend of the victim said he was still in disbelief.  \"He's been a long time family friend. He's very generous, very open and honest. He would help anybody. He's always been that way ever since I knew him,\" said the victim's friend Kevin Jones.

The investigation is ongoing.
