13-year-old Arrested After Auto Dealership Burglary in Mount Pleasant
A 13-year-old boy faces charges of vehicle theft and burglary after a high speed chase and crash in Mount Pleasant Monday morning.
According to the Mount Pleasant Police, around 2:30 AM, a patrol car came across several vehicles that were driving at a high rate of speed and some with the headlight off. The Police attempted to stop the vehicles, but they fled. Due to the high rate of speed and reckless nature of the drivers, the Officers terminated the pursuit.
The Officers then checked out the last known destination of the vehicles and discovered a vehicle which had crashed into the median on State Highway 20, west of West Road. The vehicle was on fire, but the fire was quickly extinguished. The 13-year-old was apprehended at the scene.
Upon investigation, the Mount Pleasant Police discovered a burglary had occurred at the Porcaro Food Dealership in Mount Pleasant and a number of vehicles were stolen. It is believed the stolen vehicles were fleeing the scene when the Officers discovered them.
The 13-year-old was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries. He faces a number of charges in connection with the burglary and chase and was also wanted on Milwaukee County warrant for a burglary charge.
The Mount Pleasant Police are continuing to investigate the case.
