TSA reports screening 2.45 million people Sunday after Thanksgiving, a pandemic high

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Air travel is almost back to pre-pandemic levels, at least for the holidays.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) reports screening 2.45 million people Sunday, Nov. 28 alone.

It was the busiest day for the TSA since the pandemic began, and 85 percent of the volume seen on the same day in 2019.

That's also twice as many people who passed through airports last year.

AAA also estimates more than 53 million Americans traveled for the holiday.

That's up 13 percent from 2020.
