WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) – Despite being held in Frame Park for more than three decades, Latino celebration “Fiesta Waukesha” is changing its location due to a city request.
Fiesta organizer La Casa de Esperanza is moving the event to its campus on Arcadian Avenue on June 9th and 10th.
This year, the city wants La Casa de Esperanza to sign an affidavit guaranteeing all of its volunteers and vendors have all their proper immigration documentation.
“I can tell you everyone in La Casa de Esperanza has an I-99 and everyone has a permit to work, however for a festival the size of “Fiesta Waukesha,” with so many independent vendors it’s impossible to do,” said CEO and President of La Casa de Esperanza Anselmo Villarreal.
The Waukesha City Administrator sent a statement explaining that an incident last year, not at the Fiesta but at another event, prompted officials to review their park rental policy and add the affidavit.
