'An amusement park for your dog': PetFest returns to the lakefront this Saturday
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The dog days of summer aren't over just yet. Fromm PetFest is taking over the lakefront. But it's not all about dogs. Bring your friendly felines down for a day of pet-centric activities.
"I like just kicking back and doing some good old people and pet watching. We've got a beer garden here. You can sit back with a nice beer and just see everybody getting along, whether it's kids and grandparents to a Chihuahua and a Great Dane," said Bryan Nieman,
brand director for Fromm Family Foods.
Nieman's family has been making Fromm dog food here in Wisconsin for five generations.
"It was kind of a pipe dream of mine to bring a festival, a pet festival, to the best festival grounds to Milwaukee, and somehow it worked out," said Nieman.
This is the 10th annual Fromm PetFest.
"I like to call it an amusement park for your dog -- everything from our lure course to dock diving, where they [dogs] jump off a dock into a pool of water. We have a doggie dash, where they're doing speed trials to see how fast they can run," said Nieman.
Gates open at Henry Maier Festival Park at 10 a.m., and it's free to enter. All pet owners will need to sign a waiver.
