Anti-human trafficking press conference urges people to watch for possible trafficking

MADISON, Wis. (WKBT) -- Human trafficking is happening in communities across Wisconsin, and state leaders want your help keeping people safe.

The Wisconsin Attorney General and the Department of Children and Families hosted an anti-human trafficking press conference Tuesday in Madison to discuss the frequency of the crime. A statewide assessment found Wisconsin law enforcement in nearly every county has reported human trafficking in their community.

A woman from Tomah spoke at the conference about her son's experience and eventual death after being trafficked.

Wisconsin's Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force has developed a guide the public can use if you think someone is being trafficked. You can find a the guide and other resources on the Wisconsin DOJ website.
