Bay View business transforms to Malibu Barbie Dream Lounge for a weekend
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Avalon Atmospheric Theater sold out of tickets to see Barbie days ago. It's safe to say Bay View has been hit with Barbie fever. It's spreading throughout the nation as people embrace the Barbie movie premiere.
But even if you don't have tickets, you can still immerse yourself in a Barbie world at Avalounge attached to the Avalon Theater. For the next three days, it's been turned into the Barbie Malibu Dream Lounge.
"Pink everywhere, pink layered tables, pink lamps-- everything," said Lisa Romella the owner of Awkward Nerd Events.
Now anyone can be a Barbie girl in a Barbie world while they sip on a sparkly Malibu Punch or Champagne Dream.
Romella touched on every detail, bringing out the Barbie feel in every corner of the Avalounge.
"We've had custom made wallpaper, so we've wallpapered some spaces. It really feels like you're walking into a room at the Dream House," said Romella.
On sight to help her was Amber Jackson, a Barbie fanatic.
"I got my very first Barbie Christmas of '95," said Jackson. "I've loved her ever since. My sister and I used to play Barbies growing up together."
She showed off pieces from her own collection to CBS 58 News Thursday morning.
"I don't have a lot of dolls in my collection. I have a lot of articles of clothing and accessories, because I love to be out-and-about in the town and just present Barbie to the world," said Jackson.
She is happy to see Barbie making a comeback. Because she believes she represents friendship and she's a positive female role-model.
" I carry that Barbie spirit with me wherever I go," she said.
The Barbie Malibu Dream Lounge opens at 6 p.m. to the public. It will stay open through Saturday.
