Big, Beautiful and Blessed looking for plus size models for upcoming fashion show
The call is out not to join the movement but be the movement that is called Big, Beautiful and Blessed.
A support group founded by Laniece McGee of Milwaukee four years ago, it has become a critical player in community events and spreading the message of self acceptance.
Open to women of faith, size 12 and over, McGee says all women are welcome.
"When we do our calendar and fashion show, it's plus sized models," explained McGee. "But all out other community activities are women in general."
That includes their annual prom dress collection and give away for local students.
Fashion Director Demond say they're looking for someone who can wear high class fashion and is open to an array of styles.
"We have a lot of versatility that we want to express," Demond explained to CBS 58 News. "We're looking for women who are bold, classy. We're looking for all kind of women."
Their appearance on the CBS 58 News at 4 comes amid a new study that say the notion of fat but fit is a myth. And warns that being overweight creates a host of health problems that will not go away.
"We don't like being called fat," says McGee. "It's negative in tone altogether. We're in to being healthy. It's all about are you eating right, getting your regular checkups. If you're healthy, that's what we promote. You can be a size four and not be healthy. We're about healthy living, choices and life style."
The open casting call for plus size models is August 22nd starting at 6 p.m. at Devon Seafood Grill at the Bayshore Town Center in Glendale
