New traffic switch starts this morning along I-94 west near Zoo Interchange
The Zoo Interchange has been an area in a constant state of change since the project started several years ago. Although we are still a couple years away from completion, drivers will continue to see new traffic patterns and new ramps closing and reopening around the core of the interchange.
This morning a new traffic pattern will be in place as drivers approach the Zoo Interchange. As part of this switch, several changes will take place.
- I-94 westbound becomes four lanes of traffic from 70th Street to the Zoo Interchange.
- The I-94 westbound to I-41 northbound system ramp will open on its new permanent bridge to two lanes of traffic instead of one.
- The 84th Street entrance ramp to I-94 westbound (which currently only has access to I-41 northbound) will fully close as mentioned before. This ramp will then regain access to I-94 westbound only.
The 84th Street entrance ramp closed long term until Summer 2018 for reconstruction last Friday.
As with most changes be sure to plan on extra time if you use these routes for either of your commutes. Be sure to follow @ABrovelli and watch the CBS 58 Morning News for the latest on the Zoo Interchange Project and other construction projects throughout southeastern WI.
