MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The weather was perfect for families to lace up their running shoes for a big event.
Runners hit the streets for the Briggs and Al's Run and Walk for Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.
More than 10,000 participants took part on Saturday. Many were past and current patients at the hospital.
The course took participants from the Marquette campus to the Summerfest grounds.
"With the glorious day, beautiful weather, it's a wonderful time for families to come out," said Peggy Troy with Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. There's so much going on down at Summerfest at the end of the race so we consider this one of the best family days in Milwaukee."
In the last 41 years, the event has raised more than $21 million that has benefitted the thousands of children and families who are served every year by Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.
This year's fundraising goal is $1 million.
