BROWN DEER, Wis. (CBS 58) -- North Shore Fire and Rescue crews were dispatched to Silverbrook Lane for a report of an attached garage fire.
Upon arrival, crews found a two-story single-family residence with heavy fire coming from the home. At the time of the fire, only one family member was home. He was able to evacuate safely prior to the arrival of emergency crews.
The fire was brought under control.
According to North Shore Fire, there were four family pets at the time of the fire. Both of the dogs and one of the cats were successfully located and appeared relatively unharmed. They were reunited with family at the scene. Unfortunately, the other cat succumbed to smoke exposure and died at the scene.
There were no reported injuries to any of the emergency personnel.
The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
It is not believed to be suspicious at this time.
Damage to the structure and its contents is estimated at approximately $175,000.
