Catholic Priest Discusses Working at the U.S. and Mexico Border with Migration
A Catholic priest who works along the troubled border between the United States and Mexico is in Milwaukee spreading the word about his mission.
Father Sean Carroll is speaking at both Marquette University and Marquette High School about the "Kino Border Initiative."
It is based in Arizona and Mexico.
The organization provides meals, shelter and other services for people who've been deported.
People who Carroll says are vulnerable to abuse and exploitation in the border communities.
"It's holy work, it's important work, and at the same time while we provide these humanitarian services, we also want to get the root causes of why people migrate,” Carroll said.
Father Carroll's visit coincides with the "Year of Mercy", designated for the Catholic Church.
He will speak at the Church of Jesu at 7:00 PM on Thursday night.
