MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Charges are expected for the man accused of sexually assaulting a young boy at a popular Bay View Park.

Alderman Tony Zielinski, who has been communicating with authorities, confirmed with CBS 58 the suspect’s identity as Daniel Mangert, 36.

Mangert allegedly sexually assaulted a 4-year-old boy in the bathroom at Humboldt Park on Sunday. After the assault, he tried to run from police and injured himself after jumping from a rooftop.

Zielinkski said he will help the boy's mother, who lives in his district, get justice.

“She came into the bathroom because the little boy wasn’t out yet, and identified what stall he was in. Some gentleman helped out and they broke the door down, and there that man was with the boy. She says, 'what are you doing in the stall?' He says, 'I was just helping him wipe' and she got upset, told him that’s not a plausible explanation.”

Mangert is not yet charged in this case, but his bail has already been set at $20,000.

He was charged for a similar crime before. According to a criminal complaint, in 2005 he sexually assaulted a 10-year-old boy.
