Common Council President Cavalier Johnson, Chief of Police Jeffrey Norman to roll out public safety initiatives Monday
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- According to a news release from the Common Council City Clerk Communications Center Saturday, Nov. 20, Common Council President Cavalier Johnson will host a press conference with Chief of Police Jeffrey Norman on Monday, November 22, to roll out increased reckless driving enforcement.
The press conference will reportedly take place at 64th and Silver Spring in front of Westlawn at 10 a.m. on Monday.
Per the news release, President Johnson and Chief Norman will announce a collaboration to eliminate reckless driving and vehicle thefts in the city, as well as discuss the department’s efforts to ensure safe and sober driving over the holiday season.
The initiative will reportedly be funded by American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.
“Crime and reckless driving are the issues at the top of mind for so many residents, and solving this problem is a top priority for me,” President Cavalier Johnson said. “I will continue to work with Chief Norman and many other community partners to find ways to ensure safer streets and neighborhoods for all Milwaukeeans.”
