MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Local community activist Tory Lowe has decided to run for public office in Milwaukee.

"People are complaining about the conditions of the city, there's a lot of women and children, innocent lives being lost, and I guess in 2020 we have to make a stand," Lowe said. 

Lowe is running to become the alderman of the 6th district of Milwaukee, a seat currently held by Alderwoman Milele Coggs.

Lowe made his announcement on Facebook, saying he grew up in the 6th, a district he calls the heart of the inner city.
