Cops Hunt Man They say Confessed on Facebook to Shooting Ex-wife, Killing son
NORLINA, N.C. (CBS NEWS) – A North Carolina police chief says a man wanted for killing his son and wounding his ex-wife before using Facebook to admit to the attackmight have been spotted in Richmond, Virginia.
Norlina Police Chief Taylor Bartholomew said Wednesday afternoon that authorities are still looking for Earl Valentine, who is charged with murder in the death of his 15-year-old son early Tuesday morning.
After the shooting, Valentine posted a Facebook Live video in which he appeared to admit to the shooting, reports CBS affiliate WNCN.
“What’s up everybody? I just killed my (expletive) wife,” Valentine said in the video. “I don’t feel no (expletive) remorse for what I did.”
Bartholomew told WNCN that he made contact with Earl Valentine by phone, but Valentine’s phone has since been turned off.
“He shot his own son. And for me and my guys? It’s hard to wrap your brain around that. We’re pretty angry about it especially the way he’s acting over it,” Bartholomew said.
Witnesses reported seeing Valentine in Richmond on Wednesday morning, although police have not determined if those sightings were legitimate. Both Valentine and his ex-wife, Keisha Valentine, have relatives in that area.
Richmond police department spokesman James Mercante said officers are looking for Valentine.
Bartholomew said Keisha Valentine was in surgery again Wednesday, still in critical condition.
The FBI is and U.S. marshals are helping in the search.
