MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Tuesday marked day three of a nine-day protest march to Madison as it continues in Waukesha.
The immigrant rights group Voces de la Frontera held a rally in front of their office Tuesday morning, demanding immigration reform. The group wants to put pressure on the Biden administration to add a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrant workers and on the state Legislature to allow undocumented immigrants to obtain drivers licenses.
Milwaukee Alderwoman Marina Dimitrijevic spoke at the rally, adding she supports the initiative due to being the daughter of a Serbian immigrant and married to a Uruguayan immigrant.
"I'm supporting the march as an alderwoman from Milwaukee, first and foremost because I believe that our nation needs to have a clear path now to citizenship and drivers licenses for all," Dimitrijevic said. "Our economy is challenged after the pandemic. We have workers ready to go and they just need support and the promise they were given, especially by the Biden administration, and the time is now."
The group is also putting pressure on Democrats in Congress to include citizenship for 11 million in the infrastructure and jobs bill.
