MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Dense fog in Chicago grounded more than 100 flights on Tuesday, Dec. 24 and it's impacted flyers traveling through Mitchell International Airport.

At least one flight was canceled and three delayed due in Milwaukee on Tuesday.

There are at least six flights delayed going to Chicago from Milwaukee.

The FAA announced a ground stop at both O'Hare and Midway because of the dense fog advisory.

Travelers who were supposed to have a layover in Chicago, were diverted to Milwaukee because of the fog.

They say it's been a waiting game since arriving at Mitchell International Airport.

"Waited about four hours just for them to tell us well you can’t go to Chicago, so we waited for another two hours maybe and then they tell us we have to get off the plane and then maybe a little bit after that they tell us we can’t get our luggage," said Antonio Vega, traveler.

"I'll tell you what I have never experienced something like this in my entire life," said Malachi Messersmith, traveler.

Travelers say they were offered a bus ride to Chicago, but they turned it down.

Mitchell International said only flights to and from Chicago were impacted, and there are new times for delayed flights.
