Dollar General Literacy Foundation awards $25K to Wisconsin organizations, including 2 in Milwaukee 📚
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- An influx of $6,000 worth of grants is headed to the Milwaukee area with the aim of improving literacy efforts.
The Dollar General Literacy Foundation has awarded grants to Wisconsin organizations, with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee and Eastbrook Academy among the recipients, each receiving a $3,000 grant, respectively.
The grants were announced in a Thursday, Aug. 17 press release and are part of $2.6 million granted nationwide.
The $25,000 granted in Wisconsin aims to go towards youth literacy programs in the state. The foundation expects the grants to impact over 2,600 Wisconsinites.
Deniene Torr, executive director of the DGLF, said, "We are proud to award these grants to literacy and education programs across the country and support their meaningful work of expanding children’s joy of reading and creating a foundation for future educational growth."

- Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, Milwaukee County - $3,000
- Eastbrook Academy, Milwaukee County - $3,000
- Boscobel Elementary School, Grant County - $3,000
- GiGi's Playhouse Wausau, Marathon County - $2,000
- Hoover Elementary School, Winnebago County - $2,625
- Ladysmith Elementary School, Rusk County - $2,000
- Oconto Falls Elementary School, Oconto County - $3,000
- Saint Rose of Lima Catholic School, Grant County - $1,600
- United Way of Dane County, Dane County - $2,500
- West Salem Elementary School, La Crosse County - $2,250
