Fire displaces multiple families, injures firefighter near Union and Greenfield

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A fire in a 2.5-story residential building in Milwaukee near Union and Greenfield led to the displacement of two families early Monday, Nov. 27.

The Milwaukee Fire Dept. tells CBS 58 that the fire mostly took place in the attic of the building before being successfully extinguished within 30 minutes. The call for the fire was received at around 12:30 a.m.

Five residents, including three from an upstairs unit and two from a downstairs unit, were reportedly displaced as a result of the fire. All residents were able to exit the building safely. The American Red Cross told CBS 58 that they responded to the scene to assist those who were displaced.

One firefighter sustained an ankle injury but that it was non-life-threatening.
