RACINE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Tichigan Volunteer Fire Company saved the life of a dog last week.

The fire department was called to Briarwood Circle on March 13 for a report of a dog that fell through the ice.

Upon arrival, the fire department found a dog roughly 100ft out from the shore with its head just above the water.

As two members of the fire department approached the dog, they fell through the ice.

They were able to safely get to the dog using an ice rescue sled and bring it back to shore.

The homeowner brought the dog to the vet where it was treated for Hypothermia and is expected to make a full recovery.
