MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A cooking contest for Wisconsin firefighters, featuring cash prizes, is accepting entries until Friday, June 14.
Chef Jack Birren of Waukesha County Technical College joined us to discuss the contest on Monday, May 13. The competition, organized by Iron Mountain Refrigeration, invites firefighter chefs to enter online by submitting an application and a photo of their recipe.
Three finalists will compete in a cook-off on Thursday, Aug. 8 at The Polish Center of Wisconsin in Franklin. Dishes will be judged on taste, originality, visual appeal and inspiration.
Prizes include equipment valued at $5,000 for first place, $2,500 for second place and $1,000 for third place. The judging panel includes Chef Jack Birren, Bill Chase of Hometown Meats Deli & Catering, Kayla Cacciotti of Chef Kayla Marie LLC Catering, and Noe Fuentes, a Milwaukee firefighter and culinary enthusiast.
Additional information, including how to submit a recipe, can be found by clicking here.
