Former Milwaukee Public School Principal Sentenced for Sexually Assaulting a 10-Year-Old

A former Milwaukee Public School principal addressed the court on Tuesday morning before learning his sentence for sexually assaulting a young family member.

"It's with great shame, sadness and regret that I’m here today to face these charges. I'm sorry,” said Wendell smith.

Wendell Smith is convicted of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old relative over about a year's time. A judge did sentence him to four years behind bars but stayed that sentence on the condition he not violate a three year probation.

Smith resigned from Longfellow Elementary School in March. And the charges against him came to light about a month after.
