Hometown high school students participate in neighborhood cleanup

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- As part of Peace Week here in Milwaukee, Mayor Cavalier Johnson on Thursday, May 8, joined high school students at South Division High School for a neighborhood cleanup.
Supplies were provided by the local group Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful.
Mayor Johnson, local students, as well as members from the Department of Public Works and Milwaukee Police Department made their way through local neighborhoods continuing the city's effort to keep Milwaukee Clean through acts of service.
"I think folks are generally appreciative of things like this, when you go out and do things like this, they know that people care," said Johnson. "So it's good to see their mayor out here doing it but it's also good to see students from the local high school out and engaged in the community showing that they care about where they learn and showing that they care about where they live as well."
Peace Week in Milwaukee continues Friday, May 9 with a career and resource fair and Mitchell Street Library and then kickball games on Saturday at Kinnickinnic Sports Center.
