I-794 east set to close this weekend at Marquette Interchange

Reconstructed in 2008, the Marquette Interchange is designed for a 75 year lifespan. Bridge deck overlays are an important part of the structures maintenance program and will help attain the 75 year lifespan of the Marquette Interchange and its structures.

Over the past month and extending into the Fall of 2017 several roads and system ramps have closed during the overnight hours so crews can begin their work.

A polymer overlay will be applied throughout the interchange during the 3 month project. This application will seal and protect the structures and roadways that will extend the life of the interchange.  This will also call for weekend closures of some of its roads in and around the interchange itself.

This weekend the I-94/794 eastbound corridor will close at the Marquette Interchange so this work can take place.  Drivers wishing to access east of the Marquette can detour along St Paul Ave or Michigan Ave.  For drivers that use the Hoan Bridge, I-43 SB will be one possible detour as will Lincoln Memorial Drive. Drivers will still be able to access the I-43 NB and SB corridor along I-94/794 east.

The full closure of the eastbound corridor is expected to last until Monday morning before the start of the commute.

As with most changes be sure to plan on extra time if you use these routes for either of your commutes. Be sure to follow @ABrovelli and watch the CBS 58 Morning News for the latest on the Marquette Interchange Project and other construction projects throughout southeastern WI.
