'It's tragic': Mukwonago mourns school board member and local business owner
MUKWONAGO, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Mukwonago Area School District and community are mourning the loss of school board member and local business owner Vito Schwartz.
"Complete shock," said Erika Conner, a former Mukwonago Area School District board member. "It's tragic, it's hard to believe. I'm still like this can't be real, this can't be real. He was like a pillar in Mukwonago. He is such a well-known, well-loved person. This is just a tragedy."
The district said they were "shocked and saddened to learn of the tragic passing of school board member Vito Schwartz on Friday."
He was 45 years old and very active in the community. He was the co-owner of Semper Fi Roofing and Exteriors and a Marine Corps veteran.
"I felt just sick," said Cheri Winchowky, a former Mukwonago Area School District board member. "I did because it was like this can't be, someone of his passion and love for everyone."
There is no official word on how Schwartz died. However, Mukwonago police released information Saturday that two people were found dead inside a home.
The Mukwonago Police Chief, Tom Czarnecki says Friday just before 4:00 p.m. police were dispatched to a home on County Highway E in the area of County Highway EE. Police say when they arrived, they found a 45-year-old man and woman dead, both with gunshot wounds.
Police say there was no sign of forced entry, and they are not searching for any suspects. They say there is no danger to the community.
Court records show that Vito Schwartz was 45 years old and lived at a home on County Highway E.
No link between the two has been confirmed at this time. Police say this is an ongoing investigation and are not releasing the names of the two people at this time.
