Janesville earns top honors for Wisconsin's 'best-tasting' tap water 💧

JANESVILLE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Janesville Water Utility has taken first place in the Wisconsin Section American Water Works Association Water Taste Test Competition, affirming its role as the provider of the state's best-tasting water.

The announcement came in a Wednesday, Sept. 13 press release.

Utility Director David Botts said in the release, "Our team is committed to delivering quality water to Janesville residents. Securing a win for the second time in just five years is a testament to that dedication."

The competition saw participation from water utilities across the state, including Menasha Water Utility, which placed second.

Judges were drawn from various regions of Wisconsin, with two members from the national AWWA board participating. Janesville Water Utility serves a population of 65,942 through eight groundwater wells and has an average daily pumpage of 9.20 million gallons.

The utility now sets its sights on the national competition slated for June 2024 in Anaheim, Calif.
