Kia America to offer free installation of anti-theft software at Mayfair Mall
WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Kia America announced plans Monday to host an anti-theft software upgrade service center in Milwaukee. The city was selected as part of a national effort to help roll out the free upgrades in response to thefts targeting certain Kia vehicles.
The event will take place at the northeast corner of the Mayfair Mall parking lot, located at 2500 N. Mayfair Road in Wauwatosa, from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Oct. 20-22.
Kia says the mobile center is meant to "help drive installations of Kia's free anti-theft software upgrade that is designed to make it more difficult for criminals to use methods of theft popularized on social media."
They say service technicians will be on-site to install the upgrade in as few as 30 minutes. The upgrade is designed to "restrict the operation of the vehicle's ignition system" if someone were attempting to steal a locked vehicle without the owner's keys.
No appointment is necessary.
