La Crosse police burglary investigation near campus leads to large drug bust

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) - A burglary investigation by the La Crosse police led to multiple arrests, a large quantity of stolen items, a loaded handgun, cash and a variety of drugs.

La Crosse police received several burglary reports in the campus housing area over the past several weeks, according to the PD Newsroom.

Investigators, after receiving a search warrant, went to 1018 Gillette Street with the La Crosse Police Emergency Response Team (ERT), due to safety concerns raised during the investigation.

As the ERT executed the search warrant, several individuals in the basement of the residence tried to escape after breaking a window. Officer Hughes and K9 Zeus were able to arrest all the individuals before they fled.

Police said, in a search of the residence they found Televisions, video game systems, computers and other electronic devices, as well as a loaded 9mm handgun, and many illegal drugs.

The drugs found included 336.7 grams of ecstasy, 137.5 grams of cocaine, 37.7 grams of fentanyl and 50.5 grams of laced sugar candies. Police said the current street value of these drugs are estimated at $57,000.00. Police also seized $7450.00 in cash.

The following individuals were taken into custody and charged as part of the La Crosse police investigation:

Dai'Twon E'Shawn Cowson, 20, of Toledo, Ohio is charged with burglary, fraudulent use of a credit card and receiving stolen property.

Jerrad A. Simms, 32, of Harvey, Illinois is charged with possession with intent to deliver ecstasy/MDMA, possession with intent to deliver THC, possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession with intent to deliver schedule II narcotic, possession of drug paraphernalia, and drugs near certain places enhancer - schools.

Lennell L. Davis Jr., 28, of Chicago, Illinois is charged with possession with intent to deliver ecstasy/MDMA, possession with intent to deliver THC, possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession with intent to deliver schedule II narcotic, possession of drug paraphernalia, and drugs near certain places enhancer - schools.

Debrian A. Hayes, 22, of La Crosse is charged with possession with intent to deliver ecstasy/MDMA, possession with intent to deliver THC, possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession with intent to deliver schedule II narcotic, possession of drug paraphernalia, and drugs near certain places enhancer - schools.

Jesse J. Stringer, 30, of La Crosse, is charged with possession with intent to deliver ecstasy/MDMA, possession with intent to deliver THC, possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession with intent to deliver schedule II narcotic, possession of drug paraphernalia, drugs near certain places enhancer - schools, felon in possession of a firearm, and receiving stolen property.

Gwenee Lawson, 30, of La Crosse is charged with possession with intent to deliver ecstasy/MDMA, possession with intent to deliver THC, possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession with intent to deliver cocaine.
