Lawmakers propose “Green Alert” to help find missing at-risk veterans

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) – A bi-partisan group of lawmakers is looking to start a new alert that would help find missing at-risk veterans.

The proposed “Green Alert” would be similar to Amber and Silver Alerts in Wisconsin, which notify the community about a missing child or elderly person.

Senators Patrick Testin (R-Stevens Point) and LaTonya Johnson (D-Milwaukee) along with Representative Joel Kleefisch (R-Oconomowoc) are sponsoring the Corey Adams Searchlight Act – named for a Milwaukee Air Force Veteran who passed away earlier this year after going missing for 18 days.

The goal of the alert would be to honor Adams’ memory and save lives.
