MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is April 27, exactly one month away.
Attorney General Josh Kaul says the opioid epidemic is the most important health crisis facing the state.
He spoke at an event Wednesday morning in Milwaukee.
Wisconsin's Attorney General says he wants to see more funding to combat the problems, including investments in drug treatment programs. He also wants to punish those who wrongfully distribute opioids.
"We need to make sure that those who are distributing drugs illegally, whether by diverting lawful prescriptions or by selling heroin, fentanyl, and meth, are targeted in investigations and are prosecuted," says Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul (D).
Kaul says that any companies that may have contributed to the opioid distributors should be held accountable. Wisconsin is currently in a multi-state lawsuit against opioid distributors.
