MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Countless bakeries across Southeastern Wisconsin are celebrating Fat Tuesday, February 25, with paczki.
Paczki are a Polish version of doughnuts.
On Tuesday morning, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett stopped by National Bakery & Deli to pick up his own box of the sweet treats. It's something he's done on Fat Tuesday for many years.
"My staff at the office, they've got their favorites so they tell me what they want," Mayor Barrett said. "I've been doing it 17 years."
Other bakeries across the area were dealing with crowds. At Cranky Al's in Wauwatosa, customers waited outside before the bakery opened.

Cranky Al's said they make around 10,000 paczki for Tuesday.
