Lou Malnati's preparing for Teacher Appreciation Week with 'Pizza for a Year' contest 🍕

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Lou Malnati's Pizzeria is gearing up for Teacher Appreciation Week, typically celebrated on the first full week of May, by hosting a nomination process to honor Milwaukee area teachers.

Students, parents and fellow educators can nominate their favorite K-12 teacher online for a chance to win "Pizza for a Year" and other pizza prizes. Nominations will be accepted from May 1 - 12, with winners selected May 15 - 17 and prizes awarded during the week of May 18 - 23.

To nominate a teacher, 100 words or less must be submitted to describe why a chosen educator is deserving of recognition. The online form can be found by clicking here and it accepts nominations for teachers from both public and private schools in Milwaukee and surrounding communities.

Parental approval is required for students aged 13 and under.

Marc Malnati, Lou Malnati's owner, emphasized the importance of recognizing teachers for their contributions to local communities in a press release announcing the event.

The company's Milwaukee team will choose one grand prize winner to receive a $600 "Pizza for a Year" gift card as well as a pizza party pack for their school. Five honorable mentions will be awarded a $50 gift card and a gift basket.
