MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee's big three in education, Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS), Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), are celebrating 10 years of partnership.
M³, or m-cubed, as it's called, is an initiative that aims to improve the quality of education in the city by helping students get into college and explore possible careers.
They shared some results from the decade of work together.
"Where our expertise comes in is alignment, making sure what happens in different schools is gonna have a hand off, hand off that baton. We want to make sure students are ready for a two-year college, a four-year college," said Mark Mone, chancellor at UW-Milwaukee.
Some results from the 10 years of collaboration include:
- 10,000 freshman and sophomores touring MATC and UWM campuses since 2017.
- More than 8,000 college credits earned by 700 MPS seniors from UWM and MATC.
- Since 2018, 5,000 MPS students have participated in work-based learning and job fair to explore careers.
