MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office has released more information on the fiery Wednesday morning crash involving a chemical truck.
The crash was reported around 3 a.m. when the truck going from east to north in the Marquette Interchange crossed a barreled-off construction area on I-43. The car hit the back of the truck and both vehicles started on fire.
Both drivers were able to get out before the fire began and no one was injured.
A Hazmat response was required because the truck was carrying 250 gallons of toxic resin which started running downhill into the sewer system. The construction company that owned the truck later clarified that the material was actually a primer that was neither explosive or toxic.

As of 3:50 a.m. there was a full freeway shutdown of I-43 NB at National Ave. and I-43 SB at Wells St. Traffic is being diverted off at National and Highland and will have to detour in order to get back on the freeway.
Drivers can detour and take 6th St. through downtown and rejoin at either Kilbourn Ave. to continue to I-43 north or take 6th St. to National Ave. to rejoin I-43 south.
This will have a major impact on the morning commute and drivers should avoid the Marquette Interchange along the I-43 corridor when traveling this morning.
