25-year-old Kervin Pierce was led into the proceedings in a wheelchair where he waived a preliminary hearing.
Pierce admitted to the shooting and beating in December, telling investigators he was tired of being disrespected and nagged in his home.
Pierce will be in court again on charges of homicide and attempted homicide on January 11. He is also facing other charges after allegedly attacking a correctional officer.
