Man sentenced to life in prison after motel homicide in Franklin
FRANKLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee man was sentenced on Friday, Nov. 22 after a homicide in a Franklin hotel that happened in January.
Thirty-eight-year-old Orlando Luis Pacheco was sentenced to life in prison.
Relatives identified the Franklin homicide victim as 41-year-old Michele Fisher, a mother of three.
Franklin police said officers responded to the Modern 41 Motel on S. 27th Street in January, for a woman found lying on the floor. The criminal complaint stated her hands were tied behind her back and a belt was around her neck.
Police said the victim was not breathing and was pronounced dead on scene.
Investigators said when they arrested Pacheco, he was in possession of two cellphones. They said one of the phones contained video recordings that show him assaulting Fisher. The video allegedly showed Fisher struggling with Pacheco and pleading with him to stop as he puts his hand on her neck.
As the struggle continued, investigators said Pacheco's phone was jarred, knocking the people out of frame. However, police said they could still hear the sounds of a person choking and yelling for help.
A report from the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office ruled Fisher died from strangulation.
Court records show that Pacheco was previously charged with battery, domestic abuse, strangulation and suffocation in 2018 in a different case.
