MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Students and staff of Marquette University gathered for their Christmas tree lighting ceremony Tuesday, Dec. 5.
Carolers sang in the Saint Joan of Arc Chapel courtyard along with the school's band and choir.
Ahead of the tree lighting, President Michael R. Lovell spoke, wishing the students well on their exams and a heartfelt Merry Christmas.
"For everyone gathered here today, my wife Amy and I really wish you, as you head into that season, into Christmas, that it is filled with hope, joy, love and faith," he said. "So again, Merry Christmas to everyone."
President Lovell told those celebrating that the lighting of the tree should act as a reminder for people to be a light for the lives of others, especially the less fortunate.
