MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson has officially proclaimed Wednesday, Sept. 4, as Golden Moments Day in the fight against childhood cancer.
This was at a ceremony at Northwestern Mutual headquarters downtown.
What's a golden moment? It's described as any positive development in the long struggle to find a cure for a disease that kills children and devastates families.
"But it's also important that we take time to celebrate the progress that we've made," said Steve Radke, president of the Northwestern Mutual Foundation. "The breakthroughs and advancements in treatments and research. The survivor success stories and the moments of joy that we can provide to the children and their families."
Golden Moments Day will be recognized every year on Sept. 4 at the start of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
